Aram Rug [Ex-display]

Aram 2 is a reissue of the flat-woven Aram rug, exploring the interplay between volume, texture and colour. Handwoven from pure New Zealand wool, it offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Sumak weaving technique.

The rug is constructed by wrapping bundles of braided yarn around the warp, creating a multidimensional expression reminiscent of enlarged braided ribs. The yarns are hand-dyed in stages, ranging from lighter to darker shades, giving each strand its own individual colour expression. This creates a refined palette of nuances and subtle colour rhythms across the surface.

A finely woven wool border completes the design. The rug is also singed and washed to enhance the tactile quality and freshness of its surface.
