The original Pira shelf, designed by Olle Pira in 1954, was as versatile as its creator. Olle Pira (1927-2018) was a traditional master cabinet-maker who crafted cherry, maple and matured oak using age-old skills. At the same time, he studied at the renowned Konstfack school of art, craft and design, a birthplace of forward-thinking ideas. In 1952, he became the first Swede to win a gold medal at the Triennale in Milan.
